Awards and Prizes

MORS recognizes members of the OR community who are contributing to meaningful projects and significant studies, making an impact in the field, and consistently contributing to the advancement of the military operations research profession. We are currently accepting nomination packets for the Wayne P. Hughes Junior Analyst, Clayton J. Thomas, and the Vance R. Wanner Memorial awards. All nomination packets are due by COB, 14 February 2020 in order to be included for consideration. To read more about these awards, the individuals for whom the awards are named, and to view the nomination criteria and instructions, view the MORS recognition page.

David Rist Prize
The Rist Prize recognizes the practical benefit sound operations research can have on “real life” decision-making and seeks the best implemented military operations research study from those submitted in response to this 2019 Rist Prize Call for Entries. This call solicits abstracts with letters of endorsement for implemented recommendations from studies or other operations research-based efforts, e.g., analyses, methodology improvements, that influenced major decisions or practices. Entries for individuals or teams submitted in response to this call will be eligible for consideration for the Rist Prize.

Richard H. Barchi Prize
The Barchi Prize recognizes the best paper given at the previous MORS Symposium (MORSS). Eligible participants are notified in December. Deadline: 28 February 2020

Visit the MORS recognition page for full details on submitting an entry.
